- MOTIVATIONAL MINUTE #25
- HOW TO HIT HOME-RUNS!
He’d
been
struck
out
twice
this
day.
Each
time
he
would
look
up
into
the
stands
with
an
unruffled
smile,
give
his
cap
a
polite
little
tip
and
walk
to
the
dugout.
In
the
eighth
inning,
he
swung
so
hard
at
the
second
strike
that
he
fell
over.
The
crowd
went
wild
as
they
could
see
their
team
beating
the
Yankees
on
this
day
in
1927.
Then
their
cheers
turned
to
shock.
The
next
fast
pitch
was
belted
so
hard
it
went
over
the
score
board
and
into
the
parking
lot.
As
he
rounded
each
base
Babe
Ruth
gave
the
same
tip
of
the
hat
and
the
same
smile
as
he
did
when
he
struck
out.
When
questioned
about
his
philosophy
Babe
replied,
“I
just
keep
going
out
there
and
swinging
at
‘em.
I
know
the
law
of
averages
will
hold
good
for
me
just
like
anyone
else.”
Babe’s
philosophy
is
simple
brilliance.
How
can
we
apply
this
to
our
lives?
You
see,
many
allow
failure
to
convince
them
that
either
they
are
no
good
or
their
idea
is
no
good.
And
so
they
stop
trying
or
simply
go
through
the
motions.
- The sales person is convinced that they can only sell so much.
- The spouse believes that their relationship will be good instead of great.
- The manager expects only marginal results from his or her team.
- The parent can’t believe that their child will succeed wonderfully.
- The author throws his manuscript in the trash after 25 rejections.
We
have
all
struck
out
in
life.
In
fact
we’ve
all
struck
out
hundreds
of
times
in
many
different
areas.
Are
we
going
to
learn
or
leave?
Are
we
going
to
improve
or
be
impoverished?
We
all
must
keep
swinging.
We
must
see
failure
as
an
opportunity,
as a
stepping
stone
to
success.
We’ve
got
to
be
like
Babe.
Let’s
tip
our
hats
and
smile
the
same
… no
matter
what.
We
must
have
the
attitude
that
every
loss
is
simply
a
stepping
stone
to
the
win.
AFFIRMATION:
I do
not
see
failure
as
failure
but
only
the
opportunity
to
learn,
to
grow,
to
find
out
what
didn’t
work
so I
can
discover
what
will
work.
ACTION:
Look
into
your
life
right
now
and
see
what
area
you
have
given
up
on.
You’ve
been
swing’en
and
miss’en.
Why
have
you
been
missing?
Now
decide
that
you’re
going
to
get
up
there
and
swing
again,
only
more
intelligently
this
time.
Make
a
new
plan.
Remember
the
law
of
averages.
You
will
strike
out
again.
But
eventually
you’ll
hit
a
home
run!
Bonus:
As
you
learn
to
hit
your
homeruns
you
will
develop
the
strong
character
of a
person
who
deserves
them.

- Thanks Greg!
That was great! I just got back from vacation and am feeling a little
unfocussed....told myself that I could should get on top of things on
Monday....your admonishment to get on it now is good...Gotta go..got
some work to plan!

Hey Greg,
Great advice and very timely in my life right now. I am feeling
overwhelmed with all that God has blessed me with and I want to be a
good witness, a good husband, and good business partner and a good
friend, so planning my day to make time for all of the above is very
crucial. Thanks for taking the time to write things that help others,
and know that, "you are, in fact, making a difference!!" God Bless,
Jimmy S.
Thank you Greg.
I feel like this particular motivational minute was written just for me
as I can TOTALLY relate to your friend! I am not married yet but I know
without a doubt that God has that dep't fully under control. In the
meantime, God has placed dreams and a vision on my heart which I desire
to follow and live out with every opportunity that comes my way. It is
exciting to see how God orchestrates every aspect of our lives when we
live in obedience to Him.
Your MM was very timely & encouraging!! Thank you heaps.

MOTIVATIONAL
MINUTE
#44
Squash
Malaise
&
Mediocrity
On
this
particular
Monday
morning
I woke
up
feeling
uninspired.
I
chose
to
sleep
in a
little
more,
I
missed
my
workout
and I
just
did
not
seem
to
have
that
zip,
that
“joi
de
vivre,”
that
spark...
When
this
happens
to me
I have
learned
to
STOP
and
take
the
time
to
seek
the
highest
council
and to
set my
sights
on
what
is
good
and
right,
on
what
is
excellent
and
yes
what
is
magnificent.
As a
result
of a
one
hour
time
out I
was
reminded
of the
following:
#1 We
have
to be
VERY
careful
that
we
don’t
allow
unbelief
to set
in.
Listen,
I’m
not
saying
that
we
don’t
have
“seasons”
whereby
we’re
not
Fired
Up. A
season
could
be a
day, a
week
or
even a
quarter
of a
year.
There
are a
host
of
circumstances
which
could
be
causing
your
malady.
But…while
we
accept
our
situation
we
must
at the
same
time
fight
for
what
we
know
is
good
and
right.
We
must
continue
to do
the
right
thing
in
terms
of
managing
our
minds
and
our
bodies.
#2 Do
not
allow
negative
or
“stink’en
thinking”
to
enter
your
being.
Say
positive
things
to
yourself
all
day
long.
Remember
that
the
good
Lord
created
you
for a
reason;
your
existence
is not
without
meaning.
When a
negative
thought
comes
to
you,
immediately
reject
it and
replace
it
with
something
positive.
For
example
if the
thought,
“Oh,
I’ll
just
never
succeed
in
this
job or
with
this
project.”
comes
into
your
mind
then
replace
it
with:
I AM A
FORCE
TO BE
RECKONED
WITH.
I GET
RESULTS
BECAUSE
I
BELIEVE
I AM
OF
WORTH
AND I
AM
HERE
TO
ACCOMPLISH
A
PURPOSE.
#3 Do
not
let
your
negative
circumstances
shape
what
you
are
out to
create.
I tell
you
that
the
greatest
people,
like
Walt
Disney
for
example,
continued
to
“imagineer”
their
future.
Keep
holding
fast
to
your
vision,
to
your
ideal
future.
You’ve
been
given
an
incredible
brain.
Get it
working.
Believe
in the
best.
Be
excellent!!!
#4
Take
care
of
that
which
houses
your
mind
and
spirit.
That’s
right-look
after
your
body.
Garbage
in =
garbage
out.
Fill
your
body
with
good
food
and
drink,
with
“real”
food,
with
fruits,
vegetables,
nuts,
whole
grains.
Flush
it
through
with
lots
of
water
and
healthy
teas.
Action
#1:
Ask
yourself-Where
am I
allowing
negative
thinking
to
set
in?
Where
have
I
lost
my
vision
for
a
magnificent
life,
year,
quarter,
week
or
day?
Stop
and
see
your
way
clear
to
having
an
awesome
week
and
day.
Do
it
now.
Action
#2:
What
is
one
thing
you
will
do
this
day
to
improve
the
health
of
your
body?
Decide,
commit
to
someone
and
do
it.
Develop
a
new
habit.
"Whatever
you
can
do, or
dream
you
can,
begin
it.
Boldness
has
genius,
power
and
magic
in
it." -
Johann
Goethe
(1749-1832)
German
dramatist,
poet &
novelist
If you
wear
your
body
out,
where
are
you
going
to
live?

Thank you, Greg! This one was the best so far! Am printing it out to
post on our staff bulletin board.

Hi Greg !
The last few motivational minutes were psychically phenomenal !!
I had either just experienced what you were talking about or was just
about to !
So, I had a good look at my life and thought about it for awhile.
I came to the conclusion that people are more alike(in all ways)than
they care to admit to themselves and accept.
Once I accepted this likeness as the simple and wondrous truth it is, it
opened up everything for me on a daily basis where I am more cognizant
of my interaction with God and the spiritual guidance He provides for me
daily through excellent interactions with people of all descriptions in
many ways.
Sometimes your motivational moments are a beacon in the storm that can
guide us to a safer place if we try.
I thank God there are people like you in this world and am lucky to have
made your acquaintance !

I want to thank-you for these motivational minutes, I forward them to my
managers and they often cascade through the office. It occurred to me
that I had never acknowledge them so thanks Greg..

Dear Greg;
I wanted to take a moment to let you know that I have been receiving
(and make a point of reading) your Motivational Minutes. This one (#12)
inspired me enough to send to a select group of friends and other "loved
ones". Good for you that you are squeezing every bit of learning from
your life experiences and BRAVO to you for sharing these life lessons
with others! I, for one, appreciate your efforts.
Best regards,
Elana
Thanks Greg. Courage is facing the moment which is much smaller than an
hour and very small compared to a day. The moments add up and the day is
complete and another week goes by before we know it. Have a great week.
Jeffrey
Greg, thanx for the inspiration. I find it refreshing to pause within
the busy day to contemplate the thoughts you send along. By the way the
hard copy sheet of
the 4 areas of questions relating to customer pain which I had pinned up
within my department has recently disappeared. I was hoping that I could
get another
copy to put up within the department!!

Just wanted to take a minute to thank you for the effort you're putting
into your Motivational Minutes. Here I am looking out at heavy clouds
(weather and work related), and in comes an MM where you talk about
reading The Power of Positive Thinking and then noticing that the rain
actually felt warm! So I have to say that your short message has made me
feel better today.
I guess that sending e-mail messages might feel like you are talking
into the void sometimes. Thanks for keeping it up -- it's having an
impact.
Gerald.
Hi Greg!
A HUGE thank you for all your thoughts and insights in your motivational
minutes!! I'm always inspired and challenged! Your last one about
complaining was interesting for me 'cause we've been discussing in BSF
how complaining really is offensive to God and angers Him. I was
challenged to be more grateful and to thank Him more for all the
blessings big and small! It's interesting too that complaining can form
into a habit and is contagious...yuk! Like you've said, we need to form
more positive habits!!
Bless you Greg!
